Water Softeners

Softeners are designed to efficiently remove Ca and Mg ions from water. Softening is performed when water flows through an ion exchange resin bed inside a pressure vessel. When ion exchange resin gets exhausted, regeneration with brine (saturated NaCl solution) is needed to reactivate the resin.

There are two types of softeners:

  • Single plant. Single plant system components:
    • inlet 5μm cartridge filter
    • reinforced polyethylene pressure vessel with ion exchange resin in Na form
    • multiport valve with controller
    • polyethylene brine tank with brine valve for ion exchange resin regeneration
  • Double plant. Double plant system components:
    • inlet 5μm cartridge filter
    • 2 reinforced polyethylene pressure
vessels with ion exchange resin in Na form
    • 2 multiport valves with controller and
    impulse water-meter
    • Brine director valve
    • polyethylene brine tank with brine valve
    for ion exchange resin regeneration
    • 3-way hydraulic outlet switch-valve
